I am working on a 68 Firebird and need the hardware to attach the armrest in the center of the bench front seat. I have searched everywhere and emailed every company I came across with no luck. I just sent out a couple to folks that have benchs for sale to try to get pictures so I can make them. If anyone here has ever dealt with the same problem and successfully came to a solution, I would love to hear from you. If you have a bench seat and can take pictures of the mounting hardware, I will make them. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
While a rarity in the Firebirds, folding down arm rests were common in full size Pontiacs of that period. Might be easier to find, design from or maybe modify bracketry from one of these body styles.
Your first post RickH, welcome aboard! I would agree with what Dennis suggested. You already have the seat, and the armrest? Post up a couple pics and it may jog some memories... Unless you are going with a complete restore with originality you might consider swapping in some buckets. Cal
Thanks for the replies. I have some old Pontiac Master Parts Catalogs and have so far came up with the same parts were used on the Tempest from 66-70. Thought about buckets but since it has a column shift, I want to stay with the bench. I attaced a pic of the seat and where I am currently at on the build.. Found what the parts was supposed to be in the 68 Fisher body manual. I am currently waiting to hear information about a 68 GTO I ran across to see if the size matches up.
This is the second 68 Firebird I am working on. I did a ground up in the early 80's. Had it all done and dropped it off at the paint shop when I left for Coast Guard boot camp. Friends were going to pick it up and pay when it was done. I got back from boot camp and went to pick up my car. My friends told me they wnt out of business and got an abandoned title for my car and sold it.
Parts sure are much easier to find this time around wit the internet and foums like these..
