We are restoring our ‘68 Firebird and we need some help to figure out the color of these parts to restore my car like it was when it left the factory (picture from an original car would do):
I have never found a definitive list of misc part colors. My opinion is:
-Master Cylinder - cast iron -Brake booster - usually an anodized gold (although the factory may have also used a silver booster in some production because my original looked very silver.) -Rear axle - plain steel -Differential - cast iron with a plain steel cover. -Spring leafs - someone else needs to respond. I think they are some charcoal shade.
I also thought there is debate about the backside of the axle and differential being hit with a quick spray of chassis black paint.
2012 Mustang Boss 302 #1918, Competition Orange. FGF replacement 2006 Mustang V6 Pony, Vista Blue. Factory ordered. 2019 BMW X3 (Titled to the wife, but I'm always driving it for her. So I'm claiming it) Old projects, gone but not forgotten: 1967 FB 400, original CA car. After 22 years of work, trashed by the guy who was supposed to paint it. I had to sell it. 1980 Turbo Trans Am 1970 Mustang fastback, 351C 4Bbl, auto 1988 Mustang GT, 5 speed 1983 F-150 4x4, built 302 1994 Chevy K2500 HD 4x4, 454 TBI
Some great photos and advice. Another source that's good to see and fairly consistent with these photos is a youtube video by scared shiftless. They show all the facts tory markings on a 68 firebird.
