I'm at a loss. I can't seem to figure out why my driver's side door panel doesn't want to mount properly on the door. This is the original panel.
I don't think that I'm completely understanding how it's supposed to fit. I'm pretty sure that I've got the inner window guides installed correctly, but the door panel seems to fit better with the guides removed. I'm not sure how the little hook on the rear guide catches to the door and if it does then the front doesn't sit right.
Does anyone have any pictures or a good resource for mounting the deluxe door panels for '69?
Good morning Riv. I had the same problem last week with mine. I pulled the panel off to replace the weather guard sheet along with replacing weather stripping, inside, and outside weather strips/ guides. When I went to re-install the panel (which is also original and very sensitive to push pegs as far as trying to adjust without tearing up the cardboard), the pegs were not lining up properly with their inserts. I had to adjust the insert tabs to accommodate proper sitting as well as get the panel to set properly lined up with the new window strip. I was able to get it all set doing this but created another issue which is not getting the pull handle to lock in without popping the panel out at the front side. When I go to secure the bolt on the right of the handle (left one guided and locked in correctly) it locks in place but pops the front of the panel out. If I back it out (thereby making it not secured properly) the panel locks in its correct spot.
If you have been able to manipulate yours since you posted let us know. If not try the things I posted and see if that helps.
If anyone else has had these issues and got a resolution, looking forward to hearing about it. Thanks
