Does anyone have the tech manual for replacing the timing chain on 67 400 engine? Mine had the original chain still on it with the plastic teeth that got all ground off. Just want to ensure i get the alignment between crank and cam shaft properly in sync before closing everything up in the project. Thanks
Mark on crank sprocket up. Mark on cam sprocket up or down but make sure distrib is oriented properly. If the old chain didn’t slip, line the old sprockets up properly before removal and put the new ones on the same way. If it’s an aftermarket chain, be careful with the sprocket markings since they often have multiple positions to allow advance or retard of the cam
Have a tip... After making sure the timing marks are vertically aligned note position of fuel pump eccentric. Turn the crank so it wont be putting pressure on the fuel pump lever before installing the timing cover. Much easier to install pump without pressure on it.
