Need some help... whats that rusty thing below the shiny black thing? I think I was told the shiny black thing is my voltage regulator... but that rusty box thing looks like its in need of some TLC.
'68 400HO Coupe, 4 spd, 259 interior, Windward Blue. My other car's a Johnson 15 outboard on a '61 Starcraft rowboat... Just sayin'.
"Upon Further Review" I've discovered that the 67 and 68 models didn't have ignition key warning buzzers. Seems to have started in 69. So I apparently just have a boring old horn relay to pull out, clean up, and paint a nice aluminum grey. Thx Guys!

Incorrect. '68's came with the key buzzers. They still work on all of mine. I do not remember about '67, but probably did not have them.
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not sure. My 68 has it. The 68 wiring diagram shows the four terminal relay and the key-in terminal in the ignition switch, going to the drivers door switch. 67 wiring diagram shows only a three terminal relay, and I can't see a key-in terminal in the switch. Doesn't mean the later 67 didn't have them.
The wiring diagrams in the 68 service manual has the Pontiac and Tempest relay named 'Horn relay and buzzer alarm', they have the Firebird relay named 'horn relay'.
In the removal and replacement section of the 68 Chassis electrical service, they call it the horn relay and buzzer alarm.
Page 10 of mt 1968 pontiac owners manual states"all models are equipped with an anti theft key warning system".
So I agree, we can safety assume The 68 Firebird have the buzzer alarm horn relay.
Yeah, actually mine has it too. Forgot how obnoxious it is. Maybe I'll rip it out. :-)
Where's this "folder" for cocktail shakers info.? I've always been curious about more on them. I still have all four (and they add a ton of weight to the front fenders).

There are a few "cocktail shakers" / "vibration dampener's" discussions here about their purpose, function, and various configurations depending on the year and Camaro vs Firebird interchangeability. Functionally, one of the best may be 4 Corner Cylinders which includes an article Jeff had where the author cut one to expose the insides. I recently found them in the '68 Camaro Assembly Manual. It confirms that they (4) are filled with 1.25 gal of auto trans fluid.
Thx! Even got the right mount bolts and rubber studs, plus replaced the body bushing "while I was there", which got all the bushings replaced "while I was at it". BTW "While I Was There" and "While I'm At It." ...a pair of expensive 4 words...
