Mine is a Norwood June '69 car. The cowl tag also has a number in third digit for build data (061), and has the AEE stamping that nobody knows why. I have PHS, but my engine is about 700 from correct build. I'm guessing after all Firebird builds went to Norwood late '69 (where Camaro was built) workers marked stuff. But a W...
My 69 is a Lordstown 11-b which is 2 week of November 061 is week 1 of July The stamp Aee is said to be a special order white top or white interior not parchment but that being said may or may not be entirely right either nobody I’ve talked to knows for sure the only thing for sure is that aee is rare and something different or special on the car The body tags between the plants were all stamped a little different
Have you seen this registry? It appears AEE was only used at NOR plant. I definitely don't have white interior or white top. My PHS order sheet shows exactly what it has (black/black). BUT...my Palladium Silver, is actually White.
Let's call them anomalies. It's original to the car. Could be a 3 or an E, and yes an M. Does anyone else have them in this location? As we now know, don't look at it in the upside down. This car was built before Stranger Things...lol. But seriously, the Norwood plant was pushing remaining Birds out the door as 1969 was closing the Fbody. If it was silver, and someone wanted white it got new paint. And...maybe....the AEE code on cowl tags represents a factory change. This i believe because only Norwood had these AEE codes and only for 69. I think mine was repainted from Palladium Silver, which was already on the tag, and the factory added AEE. In fact, my cowl tag appears to be re-riveted. I would ask, also, if any '69 Firebird cowel tags with AEE appear to be reaffixed.
It might not be a bad idea( if you really want to know) to pull the cowl cover off and make sure the vin number matches your paperwork. It kind of sounds like something is off.
I did that. I posted a pic of my cowel being refitted but not my vin..it matched the dashboard vin. The cowl tag is a separate number from the vin....right? Is there any other location to confirm the body tag? I also post here a pic of my tag. Strange 061 code for date also. And rivets look like epoxy. Maybe a "Mule Car" for the potential '70 Firebird?
The dash vin will be the same as body tag, cowl tag from 22337n506023 Under the cowl is a vin stamped in the body tube toward the center of the body look thru the vent slots on passenger side towards the center of car you should see it Also down under the blower motor their is also a vin stamped 061 is build date 1 week of June
November '69 was the last month GM pushed the Firebird out to before ending the model. Does/did yours have unusual drive train stuff (1970 10.5" rear, large front sway bar, #62 heads)? Did your engine match your body VIN? Mine is about 700 off, but the engine is earlier than han the body.
