Not one but 2 Pontiac Firebird Convertibles- 1968 Pontiac Firebird Convertible sorry to say a Barn find this beauty was stored outside but has major potential to get back to its grand glory. All original parts engine, transmission, etc. Trying to get a price point on unleashing this beauty. Manual transmission, not sure about the size of the engine but like I said all parts are here. Other is a 1969 Pontiac Firebird Convertible garage kept good condition. I have both Vin's on these vehicles but need guidance on pricing them out correctly to put said $$ back into the estate. Both for sale. 68 HAS BEEN SOLD................69 still available trying to price out.
If they both look like that, I'd say $800 to $1000 each. Maybe.
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not sure. I feel like I am diagonally parked in a parallel universe. 1968 400 convertible (Scarlet) 1976 T/A - 455 LE (No Burt) 1976 T/A New baby, starting full restoration. 1968 350 - 4 speed 'vert - 400 clone (the Beast!) 1968 350 convertible - Wife's car now- 400 clone (Aleutian Blue) (Blue Angel) 2008 Durango - DD 2008 GXP - New one from NH is AWESOME! 2017 Durango Citadel - Modern is nice! I'll be rolling through there in two weeks on my way to Ventura. My email is bobman58ya@yahoo.com. Phone is 925-586-3082. I could make some time to take a look and give an opinion. I have had my 9 for 40years and my current 67 vert purchased a year or so ago so I think I have a pretty good handle on things.
Hey Robert, I really don't see them sitting around too much longer I have a major interest in the both of them. I have held off on the 5K offer on the 68 and not really sure how to bid the 69 at this point. This was my dad's deal just liquidating the 9 vintage vehicles for the estate.

Did you have any pics of 69? What other cars did you have?

Your 69 appears to be a 400 car. Love the blue on white colors. Appears to have: PW, tilt, 400 hood, 400 engine, 400 badging on hood, 400 chrome valve covers, The engine bay looks very good all be it dusty. Looks to have most of the stock parts. I don't recognize the accessory installed by the master brake. I thought maybe cruise but the wiring look odd. Can't see lower area of the rear quarters, doors and fenders. Expect some rust but other than that, it's not too bad. Top maybe fixable Front seats need recovering. Console dusty Assume it has a TH400 3sp auto I'm going out on a limb and bet the body is in above average condition. They did not make many Firebird verts in 67, 68 or 69'. Could this be a 400HO, RAIII?
This one is a buy. Have to get PHS docs to confirm the value.

The 9 looks like it could be a decent car with some work and money put in. It's not without issues though. Just based on the pics I'd say minimum $8K. Max $12k. Would be interesting to see the PHS on it. That definately a cruise control unit. Not many cars got those.
sport wood wheel $$ power window $ tilt cruise missing the part over the valve cover ... disc brakes fold down rear seat ? hd cooling ? open face alternator $$ probably rally gauges original radio power drivers seat ?
Im thinkin 12 for sure,,, my buddy just sold a 68 rag top 400 car same condition w a 455 transplant th400 car tilt wood wheel p windows p ant, fold down rear red on red white top same stored condition for 14000 first guy that showed up
dont under bid your self on this one .... do a little homework on engine codes ... carb .. etc...
9794234 is the code for a 1969 V8 4 bl intake. It could be found on 350, 400, or 428 engines.
1968 400 Coupe, verdoro green, black vinyl top 1968 400 Convertible, verdoro green, black top 1971 Trans Am, cameo white, auto 1970 Buick Skylark Custom Convertible 350-4(driver)
You had this car appraised right? So they didn't take into account whether the drivetrain was original to the car or not? Hmmm.
The numbers for the carb run verticle on the main body casting just forward of where the left rear bolt goes down through the carb.
There are a few casting codes on the block. One is on a pad next to the distributor( date code). There is a block casting number on a slanted part of the block...passenger side behind the head and just in front of where the transmission mates up to the motor.
There is a two letter code on the pass side next to the water pump and below the head.
There's a date code on the heads as well on a flat area below the bottom edge of the valve cover and there should be two big casting numbers on the center exhaust ports of the heads.
All these areas are generally pretty dirty and caked with grunge so it takes some effort to get to them and clean them off good enough the read the numbers.
I think if you go to the Wallace Racing site they have a diagram showing where to find all the codes or just google Pontiac engine codes and something will probably come up that you can use.
Possible but just going through my father's garage and this will take time. Dealing with a lot on my plate at the moment so this has taken a backseat on priorities.
Thank you for your guidance. My mother has decided to throw a little money on this vehicle so she's going into the shop to have a look over and get her running again. I Will also clean the engine so we can read things easier. Stay tuned I will be posting our progress when it happens

At this point is going to be very difficult to find additional value without investing $$$. If you bring the car in and have a mechanic to "get her running", expect the cost to be high if he gets it running and cheap if it's dead or not numbers matching. The "pay dirt" is the numbers matching and the verification of the optional accessories. Your not going to be able to guarantee the operation of any of the options or the drive trane. The parts are old and unless they have be refurbished lately, you would not be able major $$$ them. For example, say the options (all working) are worth $4000 to the buyer. If you spent money on fixing the options you will likely spend as much or more what you will get in return.
I recommend you just verifiy the existence of parts with part no. and date code. Get pics of all optional equipment. The boys on the forum can verify what parts to look for and codes etc.
Call me and I can get you over the hump for the numbers matching info. Brian

I kind of agree with B. If somebody can get the car running cheap that would be great. You're always going to get more for a car that runs than one that doesn't. As far as numbers matching...it really is going to depend on the buyer. Some people care, some could give a rats [censored]. It would make a BIG difference if it were a very rare car but more of an interesting detail for a general production issue. It does make the sale more attractive to a potential buyer but I doubt it would turn into real cash. Might just make it an easier sale. I wouldn go spending a bunch of dough on it just to try and get your money back.
