Hi! I hope you all have a simple fix! I broke the nut loose while taking out the pocket. Is this gong to be body surgery from inside? How can I get to that nut to make it stick fast? See pic

Pretty sure those are all clip nuts. Just cut or grind the head off until you can drop the spring out of the way and you should be able to slide the old clip off and slide a new one on.
Thx Mickey--- perfect And Firebob Turns out that's exactly what I did... cut off the bolt head and once I got the pocket out I could see that they were clips from below....whew
Thx all!!

Just had to do this myself tonight. One on each side was FUBAR. One was a flush mount but one was the recessed one. Can't get a cutoff wheel down in there. Had to drill the head out and chisel it off. Wasn't fun but not as bad as I thought it was going to be. 1/2 hour and done.
Do these have nuts retained in the clip or is the clip just threaded? I KNOW my bird had nuts on the other side of the bolt. I wish I had seen this thread before I cut up my floor to hold the nut when backing out the bolt.....
Mine had bolts dropped down from the top with nuts on the bottom. Probably grabbed the protruding bolt end with vice grips to tighten the nuts. It seems to work fine. Maybe better than the j nuts. You can use grade 8 bolts and nuts.
A new set of clip nuts with a dose of never-seize and it should be fine for as long as you need it to be. You just hav to figure that everything under the car is X posed to the elements and it's going to rust solid after some time. It happens.
This is what I got from NPD. The kit def has clip-form nuts, not actual nuts. BUT they look exceptionally strong, so should do just fine. The washer is a cup style spring washer, so they ought to stay tight as well...
