I'm still dancing between headers and RA manifolds, came across this Hedman set of shorties but they don't list first gen, just curious of anyone tried them, according to measurements they should fit, haven't heard back from manufacturer.
I'll be curious what you find out. All long tubes seem to be too low for my ground clearance and just about touch my steering box anyway, making it VERY hot even with a heat blanket shoved in there between them.
Running shorites will save me from paying for a custom set of headers. I wish they were a 2" primary tho (or close to it) for very modified Pontiac engines.

That article tends to say that shorties have a very slight advantage over the ho mans. At the end they said there was only 3hp difference between the ho mans, logs and shorties. Sanderson used to make some shorties as well. I think you could order them ceramic coated too. A buddy of mine had a set on his car for awhile. They looked good. I think he eventually swapped them for some long tubes.
True, depends on which data set your looking at. However, really not enough difference to warrant going that route.
Now if someone made a true mid-length header, (which would provide better ground clearance and still have most of the performance benefit of long tubes), that would be interesting.

Yeah, I would pay top dollar (like $2K) for a SS tri-y.

This guy builds Tri Y's for $550 plus $250 ceramic coat, contact him through his Fb message page
I have built quite a few sets of headers The cost of welding supplies and the materials doesn't warrant to build anything. People have been to accustom to the cheap china pricing of everything. The major manufactures wont build this stuff because there is not a market for it. selling 5 sets of headers in a year is not worth the start up cost.
