What was the matter with those floor pans? They look fine to me except maybe for the drivers foot area.

Agreed, the originals look pretty nice. Butt weld in some new sections and you are done in a weekend.

Trust me, I did not want to replaced the floor pan. I waited a year before taking them out. Rodents or critters burrowed at least 5-6 nests in the car. It seemed like every area I opened up I found another nest. They are not impossible to fix (patch em). However, the other thing the critters do is piss a lot. Urine made it's way down the floor and into the panels, brackets, and support joints. This caused the joints to expand and tear themselves apart. Many of the joints were connected with multiple panels etc. so it was impossible to isolate one panel, your forced into replacing/patch each one.

They call it : 1" x 1" x 1"

I would guess it's 1/8" thick. They make it out of scrap steel.
