I just dropped my tank, and I have 2 questions for you guys. (67 bird), I have a new tank that is going to be here next week.

Also The hose that goes from the filler neck to the fuel tank is rotted away, can I just use heater hose of the same diameter to replace it? Or does it need to be some kind of special curve???

Don't use heater hose as fuel vapors will prematurely deteriorate the rubber. Use fuel hose.

just buy a new sock. They are only a couple of dollars, I got one on my last NPD order.

I just went through the same thing about a week ago and my filler neck hose was rotted also. I talked the guy at napa in cutting me off just what I needed from a spool for a couple of bucks.

yea I think I will have to stop at the auto store this weekend and pick up some fuel hose.

Is the fuel sock something I have to order repro from the ripoff catalog companies? Or could I find it locally?

If I have to order from the catalogs they have the regular one(im guessin 4in long doesn't say), and the one that is 4-7/8" inches long.

My stock one is 4" long, but the the 4-7/8" inch one is longer and $2 cheaper, Could I go with that one? I don't think a little bit longer would hurt right?

$11.59 for the sock from NPD...not bad for a part that's lasted 37 years, IMO.

yep thanks I just got off the phone with NPD, and the Sock should be on the way.

Now only if the socks I'm wearing now would last 37years.

You'll have stinky feet if you go by that rule!

For the other plumbing you can use normal fuel hose, cut to fit. Very inexpensive.

I'm assuming you have a V8? Socks are different for OHC and V8 because the fuel lines are different sizes....
