Can I put a 68 Firebird hood on a 67 Firebird and use the 67 hood latch?

I vote you try it and report back how it works. I put an original 400 hood on my 67. It came off a 68 but was not the original hood on that car either. It works perfectly. It is either a 67 hood or else 68/69 hoods work fine in 67's. Maybe it's the other way that doesn't work - 67 hoods on 68/69 hood latches
Seems to me I remember there being a difference in the catch in the hood. I think the 8-9 had a steeper angle from one side of the hole to the other. The 7 catch was more flat. Think I have a couple different ones from old hoods that I scrapped. A friend that I bought my 67 hood from had it on his 68. I asked him if it fit. He said it seemed to but he kept a chain on it anyway.
I can tell you for sure the 67 and 68 latches and/or hoods are different. 69 no idea. Found out the hard way back in 79 after installing 67 hood on my 68. It didnt latch as hard vs 68 hood. Already had a security chain with pad lock thru hood braces and around center latch support. Was testing carb and timing on my street, so didn't put chain back on. 3rd test run it popped open and slowly came to rest on roof as i braked as easy as possible. Did some fabing and adjustments to make it safe. And installed the chain lol.
Pretty sure that's a 7 hood. I'll post a pic of the 8-9 catch for you. So the red one is 8-9. The black one is 7. You can see how much flatter the 7 is.
Heat it up a bit, bend it back and MIG the cracked portion and your good to go. When the guy bent the tag it cracked because he did not heat the steel first.
