Not too familiar around this subject, but had a FB400 donor car and had the 400 motor/400TH from this car put in one of my 68 350/Powerglide cars long time ago. How can I be sure they used the 400 car driveshaft in the 350 car as they shafts are different in length, I believe?

I have a drive shaft used on a 68 FB 350HO + 4sp Also have a drive shaft used on a 68 FB 400HO + TH400 I had a 350 /w 2sp PowerGuilde but not sure it's the one I used on 350 HO+4sp
I think that is right. Just swapped my ST300 to a Saginaw 4 speed, perfect fit. I have heard when people go from ST300 to TH350, no changes necessary. The TH400 is a different story.
You could also google the diff stats on the dif trannies and check the lengths, if they are diff, then the driveshaft has to be shortened or lengthened that much, same for rear end changes, if you change a early 8" 10 bolt for the stronger later one you have to shorten the driveshaft 1", you could also look at the yolk going into the tranny and see that there's play there, if it's too tight it will work for a while and then the car will start pogoing down the street because the driveshaft is bent
Thanks all, -I'm gonna have to measure the shaft length and yoke I have and compare it to the info I got. Still trying to verify the exact length for a 68 - TH400 car as the info collected so far indicate 48 to 49 1/2, or even close to 50"". Also trying to exclude that the mechanic back in the 80"s did not just leave the 350 trans driveshaft in place and just added the proper yoke to fit onto the TH400. I believe there is a dimension for the yoke sticking out and total length from end on the yoke to C/L u-joint on the other end.
