So I've always kind of thought the inside looked a little more " racey" with no console. Just the gearshift sticking out out the Trans hump. Just looks cool to me. My issue is the car came with a console so I feel like I really should put it back in with the resto. Then I got to wondering, did they ever build and auto on the floor without a console? I don't remember ever seeing one. Some of the bench seat cars must've been auto cars. Anybody?

Only bench seat ones I've seen have come with column shift.

Auto with column shift was standard. Auto on the floor came with console.

you would have to make a cover for the shifter to make it look good, I drove mine around without a console for years, and it don't look right unless you make a cover

I'm not worried about redoing the console. It's a7 so it's just black pebble with the insert. Same as the camaros I think. Anyways I just like the clean basic look of the shifter sticking right out of the carpet. It still has the ring and boot so it stil looks finished. Just more clean w/o the console. I'll probably run it that way and save the console resto for last. Think I'll use a white shift ball too since I'm going to parchment int.
Interesting they never did auto on the floor with out a console though.

On the subject of parchment, I'll give you my recent experience.
The parchment has a rather yellowish appearance (I have the parchment pearl, which is a parchment base with pearl mix). I thought mine needed to be redone (turns out after removing the panels, it was upgraded in 1997 already by the previous owner). After ordering the correct vinyl paint, turns out that's how it's supposed to look! I polled the female riders in the family, and they didn't care for it either (neither the parchment, nor the pearl). They also thought it made it look like it needed cleaning and didn't care for the shininess of the pearl.
So after getting some swatches from TMI, I've decided to go with 1968 (midyear)/1969 Camaro White Ivory. It's a little more closer to an actual white. Still not a true white, but that's fine (tried the generic Duplicolor and that was too white). TMI and Legendary will let you custom order the correct design for your year with the color of your choice if you order directly through them.

Interesting. I have to order everything though. I wonder if you order custom color seat covers if you can get the deluxe 67 door panels in the same color? I'm not even sure that's vinal on the door panel. Might just be hard plastic. Mine are so old and cracked I can tell what they were like originally.

My 4 speed bird has a console. My 4 speed goat does not and I think it looks cool that way. I prefer no console for the looks. The console is nice in a vert to stick papers and stuff in so it doesn’t blow away

Not anywhere near original but with a few tasteful changes autos with no center consoles can be pulled off.

Worst case, take a sample of the vinyl to the paint shop and have them mix an exact match. One thing I've found is, the colors online often look NOTHING like what they do in person. You really need to get samples in person.
