I have just fitted a New electric choke to my Rochester q jet as the hot air choke would not work with the intake I have. I am a bit confused as when the 12v is applied ( I got this from the wiper motor feed ) The metal coil in the choke housing contracts as it gets hot in affect pulling the choke on. I understand that it is supposed to expand pulling the choke off as it gets warm. Have done something wrong? Thanks

Maybe the spring in the cap is in backwards? Are you sure your getting zero volts at the choke with the key off? If you are getting 12 volts with the key off and zero volts with the key on the choke would be hot all the time except when the key is on at which time it would cool and open choke. Where is the choke grounded?

Hi Al Yes 12v when key on only, I thought about turning the spring round but what I have found online says they should expand when hot. I wonder if the spring is wound the wrong way. They are not that expensive so may just order another one from a different source and see what happens Thanks Mark

I believe the electric chokes are adjustable by loosening up the housing and turning it.
