I've got a squealing front brake on my 68 convertible. It needs new pads. The car is a restomod with discs all around, and from what I can tell, the fronts are not factory. I'm hoping maybe this is a common swap and someone can identify them.

They look like stock 69 Firebird brakes painted red.

Sort of similar to my front brakes which are aftermarket that came off a 76 eldorado. Alot of the aftermarket companies use the mid 70s eldorado calipers for some reason.

That's what I thought, but I got some stock firebird pads and they are not the same.
I'll get some Eldorado pads and see what they look like.

That's what I thought, but I got some stock firebird pads and they are not the same.
I'll get some Eldorado pads and see what they look like. Bring the pads to the parts store and have them match'm up.

I'll get some Eldorado pads and see what they look like. If you asked for brake pads for a 68 Firebird they won't be the same, in 69 they changed to the single piston caliper, if you order pads for a 69 Firebird they should work, as most GM cars used the same pad through the late 70's maybe even longer. The pad number should be D-52, there can be more letters for the different type of pad material, Don't forget to get new rotors or at least have those turned https://www.summitracing.com/parts/agb-mgd52m/year/1969/make/pontiac/model/firebird.

Hard to tell with the photos, but it looks like a 69 and up setup. As stated earlier 67 and 68 four pistons are different. I recently went to discs up front based on the 69 Firebird and they look like yours.

I would or at least see if yours can be turned, if you get new ones try one for a 69 Firebird or Camaro .

Thanks for all the help. I went with 75 Eldorado parts and they worked fine. No more squeal.
