I have something that I've been wondering about for quite a while. There is something strange about the driver's side inner fender on my '69 coupe. There appears to be something mounted across the front portion right about where the flat section begins. It appears that something has been riveted to it and I have no idea why that would be. I don't know if the inner fenders are original or not.
Here's the issue - I'm in CA and the car is in WI, so I can't verify the material that this piece is made of and I can't be sure whether or not it's on both sides. I seem to recall that it is, but I only have one picture that shows it on the passenger side. (Forgive the mess - it's an older picture.)
My 69 has it on both sides, though the battery tray covers most of it on the right side. Looks like inner fender reinforcement. Where you at in NorCal?
That actually makes me feel better. Do you know if the ones on your car are original? I'd love to see a photo of that section if possible.
I'm on the west side of LA and the car is 2000 miles away in southeastern Wisconsin for the time being. It's easier to make trips there to work on it (when there's not a pandemic) than to try to find time here in LA.
Yes, I believe they are original, I’ve owned the car since 1976 and have made no changes since then. I can text you a pic if you’d like to pm me your cel #. Have a good one Ron
