I'm going to be taking on a rebuild of a 1969 Firebird pretty soon and while mostly complete parts wise, I would be lying if I said I knew were really any of the hardware is (I'm being given a partially assembled shell, subframe fenders and doors are mounted but that's it). I have been looking through some options from Amazon to OPGI and am very pleased that everything is much more affordable now than 15 years ago when I was building my 1972 Chevelle.
I know the front end of this Firebird is a little more tricky than most cars and from working on a good variety of cars over the years I know having the right nuts and bolts makes ALL the difference.
I found this and was wondering if it's worth buying? Are there any that are more focused on the front end sheet metal and million piece headlight/grille assembly?
I plan on getting the factory assembly manual to aid in the assembly as this is the First Firebird I have assembled and generally I'm the one who took the car apart that I'm assembling so this is a puzzle to say the least.
Hi, welcome. Ames performance engineering out of N.H. has a specific front end hardware kit for pretty cheap as well as other kits. I tend to like /trust them more on fitment because they are Pontiac only. As far as birds being more difficult then other gm cars of the same era they are really not, but I do understand your pain as I have also had to put together cars someone else disassembled. Having the assembly manual the internet and this site will definitely ease your pain.
