Ready to refresh or to replace the rear springs as I pull the diff to re-gear, repaint etc. What is the best place to find the original hight, multi leaf HO springs, plus maybe 1†lift? I want to make sure the hight is right, right out of the box so as not to do this twice.
I've ordered several sets from Eaton Detroit Spring and have had good results. The last set I ordered was for a 71 mustang, those cars looked like they were draggin their AZZ when new. I went with a 2" over stock on that one. Give them a call, they're very knowledgeable on what they build.
I have a set of nearly new, Eaton 175# springs arched 1†over stock. I put on my ‘68 for a summer but then decided to lower the car and switched to Hotchkiss dropped springs. These are heavy rate multi leaf springs. PM me your email and I’ll forward the receipt. Then research with Eaton to see if these are what you’re looking for. If they fit the bill will make you a righteous deal!
The majority of people seem to find that the new leaf springs will raise the car up. Many folks have become accustom to their lower ride height and like it, therefor they are disappointed and start chasing lowered leafs etc. The same is not always true for front springs, been some recent discussion on this... Original ride height can be difficult to figure given changes in rims, tires shocks springs, "sag".
