Getting ready to pull the front clip off my 1967 Firebird hardtop, it currently has the chrome bumper off and missing a lot of the front trim. I am looking for either a front clip diagram or a well-written guide to help me remove the front clip.
Anyone have something they could share with me? If you want to see what I am working with here is a link to the video of bringing the car home last year. Any help would be most appreciated.
Depends on whether you want to do it piece by piece or just the whole clip at once (need at least 3 guys with some muscle). Remove all the bolts at the back of the fenders, take the rocker trim off of both sides, disconnect the harness from the firewall and remove anything attached to the inner fenders like brake lines, wiring etc. Remove the radiator support bolts (2 of them) and then the bumper extension bolts at the frame horns. The whole clip will lift off with or without the hood. I'm sure I missed a couple of things.
Definitely pull piece by piece, easier to fight with rusted bolts while everything is mounted and lighter for one person. Here is a nice exploded view to help http://www.teufert.net/partbook/67-76/8-i.pdf by the way fun video I gave it a like.
X2 cool video. Seems so familiar whenever me or one of my friends drag something home. Lol. If you need advice speak up. Good, knowledgeable group here.
