Fairly new to Pontiacs and since I don't have that much experience, thought of asking your experts opinions.
I have the opportunity to buy a 1969 Firebird without the engine and interior very cheap and with a fair to good body.
My idea is to buy a modern donor car from where I can get the engine, transmission, maybe disc brakes and rear end. Now I was thinking that if Im going to go that way and there are plenty of possible donor cars from GM with LS engines, is there one model and year in particular that will also be a suitable interior donor car?
Has anyone in this forum performed an interior swap on 1st Gen Firebirds?
Everything will need to be totally fabricated and custom. But you probably know that. Nothing will "swap". Pontiac engines play very nice with other Pontiacs. that's it. The engine compartment is large and easy to work in. The interior space is quite small. These were not big cars. Anything can be done. Usually when you see these projects they do the opposite of what you are suggesting. They take a modern car and fabricate the older body around it. Much harder with a unibody car.
If you have enough money, anything can be done. Sounds like two to three times the cost of restoring closer to original. But have at it, and post pictures along the way. There is a guy over on TransAmCountry that is building a '68 Camaro very similar to what you describe. His skills are very impressive, but he's doing 99% of the work himself.

Not sure if a 68 interior will fit into 69 but I know a fella in TX that has a complete interior for sale
Most everything other than the dash are the same. The door pulls are in a different location. The dash is completely different.
