Does anyone know what year turbo 400s will work in a 69 firebird? I know I need a short shaft, just am not sure if there are any differences through the years that make one more desirable than others. Thanks
Since there hasn’t been any response, I’ll chime in with my limited expertise. All the short shaft TH400s are the same as long as they have the BOP bell housing. Chevys won’t work without an adapter plate. If there is a later vintage one with with electronic controls, if they ever existed, it won’t work. So any BOP short shaft TH400 from 1965 through the 70’s will be fine.
It would have to be a short tail shaft version & you will need to use a crossmember for Turbo 400. They are available aftermarket. Different driveshaft & yolk.
