I have a technical question I’m hoping for some help with. I have a 68 convertible that it’s back on the road after 31 years. The car has 42,000 original miles. I’m experiencing vibration and shaking between 40 and 45 mph and intermittently at other speeds. I’ve had the wheels balanced and I put new upper and lower ball joints and tie rods on both sides. I’ve got an appointment to get the front end aligned the first of this week. Anybody have any ideas about why I might be having this problem? The car has new radial tires and used 15 inch Rally 2 wheels. Thanks

Are the vibration dampers (aka cocktail shakers) still install in the car at all 4 corners?

Have you replaced the control arm bushings? Is one of the wheels bent and you don’t realize it.

Cocktail shakers need to exist for sure. But-might sound odd, but make sure there's no "natural goodies" involving your wheels: water in a tire, mud daubers makinging big tubes on the inside of a wheel, flat spots from sitting... I pulled a flat tire off my dads F150 that was sitting in the barn for a few years and it had all sorts of bug junk stuck to the inside of the fronts.

I was going for out of balance brake drums. I had that issue before I did discs. My 67 vert cocktail shakers were MIA when I got the car. It’s fine without them. Lack of cocktail shakers wouldn’t cause shaking. They just dampen out rough roads

Don't forget to check the universal joints on the driveshaft.

This guy posted this same question on F.B.. and P.Y. and this was the only place he didn't bother to reply to, worth remembering.
