Morning,

I just recently bought a 69 bird and need some help with the engine decode. I contacted Pontiac Historical Society and they sent me all the info about my bird but the engine is different. It originally came with a 400 but someone swapped out for a 350 unfortunately. Below are the codes but what’s odd is, while looking for these numbers I found Chevy orange paint around the block and now it’s a dark blue color, not the light Pontiac color, I believe they used that dark blue after 69 but not sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I’ve been researching but haven’t found much yet..

Number by timing cover, pass side: 290124378 (I believe it’s a 0, hard to make out)
Back pass side of block, near head: 9790079
Front pass head: 0411630 WM
Number stamped between frost plugs: 350

I can’t see any numbers by distributor, oil plug.

The 9790079 block casting number is a 69 350.

That’s the same block as a 350 HO. The heads and cam make it an HO. Need to dig for what heads came on the HO

It looks like 350's came with either 47 or 48 heads in 1969. The 48 heads are the HO heads. The number is cast into the center exhaust port.
