I think the only difference between this and a regular Muncie four speed is the final gear. Instead of a 1:1 final, you have a lower (overdrive) final gear.
I don't know how well this would hold up in your application.
for $25 if it lasts a month your ahead, just go easy on it but if you have the money check into a TKO 600, thats a Bad *** trans, and fits with everything in stock locations
Whats a TKO 600. I am trying to decide what transmission to put into my 68 firebird with a 400. I was kicking around the idea of a 700r4. Does the tko 600 have a overdrive. I would like to put a AT 4 speed. I really do not want to have to move the crossember. Thanks Denko
denko, another option would be a built 200R4....aka 2004R. It will require less work than the 700R4 as the driveshaft won't need to be shortened if replacing a TH350 or ST300 and the yoke stays the same.....plus with the 200R4 you won't need an adapter plate to bolt the Chevy trans to a BOP block.
It really depends on what you want to do. I am still up in the air on which trans I want to switch to. I'm swapping out a TH400 and have a custom driveshaft so it may work better to use the 700 instead of the 200R4. I'm in no rush though.....want to see what kind of times I can pull with the Th400 before switching to an OD.
