Can anyone help me with this. I have comp cams rollers tip rockers. Up to about a week ago I had the factory screw in rocker studs. One broke after 2000 miles on rebuild. I replaced them with Butler performance 7/16 screw in studs and new lock nuts. Installed. If I adjust now with engine running. At zero lash, quiet then half a turn. Engine is running awesome. Drive down the road and some of the rocker nuts are backing off. To the point tonight, 2 of the rockers were off the pushrod after 2 miles. Has anyone experienced this issue. Need help or suggestions.
This is the result of the sell out for ching chong charlie parts. I deal with this crap everyday to the point i no longer want to work on cars. Poly locks are your only saving grace providing you are lucky enough to get a set that's not going to split down the length of them when you tighten down the set screw. Or if you can come up with a set of USA made metal locking nuts.
The way I tighten my polylocks: Wiggle the pushrod up and down while turning down the nut (don't do the spin method) until it stops wiggling. Then turn the set screw until snug without turning the nut. Then turn the nut and set screw together 1/8-1/4 turn using a box end wrench and Allen wrench at the same time. That firmly locks the set screw and puts the proper compression of the lifter spring.
