Gave this a shot on the PY forums but didn’t get a satisfactory answer.

I’m using a repro mirror and it leaves a hole aft of the mirror base (pictured).

I’ve talked to a couple others who have a similar issue with repro mirrors.

So the question is are the repro units a Camaro part and the Firebird base is longer? I also saw there was a second type of mirror made. Is it possible mine got this later unit?

For starters, it looks like a Chev mirror. Pontiac's are different.

Yeah I mentioned I thought that might be the problem. A Camaro repro listed as fitting both. That one is from Firebird Central.

Can you or someone link me to a correct 67 Firebird mirror? Are they made? When I put in a search on google that’s mostly all I get is the one I already have.

Looks like the correct mirror for '67 to me. I'd say the hole in the door is wrong. Maybe added by a PO for a different mirror?

I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not sure.

Not out of the realm of possibility, but I talked to two other people with 67s in a FB group who had a similar issue with repro mirrors.

I thought 67s had square mirrors.
How long is the base of your mirror, mine measures 5-1/2"? I have round ones on my 68, I bought them to replace the square ones that were on the car when I bought it. I'll post a pic of mine, the base looks longer than yours. Don't remember where I bought mine from but I can look through my records if you need.

Now that I compare the two, they're not even close to being the same mirrors.

No, square (rectangular really) were introduced mid '68 model year. (Mid Jan '68 I believe)

All '67's and early '68 were round, including remote mirrors)

Here are some shots of my old '67. Too far away to see details, but had the correct mirror.

I’ll have to measure he base. I do know that door was swapped at some point in its life (I bought it as a heap) because that side has deluxe door mechanics. I’ve asked and other said a 67 remote mirror wouldn’t make a difference. I really don’t want to spend 160 for a remote unit to find out it doesn’t matter anyway.

http://windycitymusclecars.com/osrv...a-b-1968-firebird-2nd-design-w-hardware/

I’ve seen that design sometimes listed as it fits a 67. I don’t know if some late units got that design?

I can measure the base of the 67 remote if that helps.

The Firebird 67,68 mirror is a specific Pontiac mirror. It's the same mirror used on 65 Pontiacs as well.

Chevy is round and flat, Pontiac round and tapered.

I don't know about '65 Pontiac, but '67 and (early) '68 firebird non-remote mirrors are totally different.

I think you have something there. See attached.

The reference is nice to have, but when I search that 3909197 part number it brings me to the same OER branded mirror I have. People are saying the firebird mirror is different from Camaro for 67 but the aftermarket apparently says that’s fake news lol. I would love if someone has a correct one they could take a close up picture of so we can compare to the aftermarket option.

The only other thing I’ll say is the bracket listed for 67 has two normal holes. Mine has one normal hole and one slot so I guess you don’t have to be as accurate when you drill them. Looks the same otherwise though.

Rocktimispryme,
I realize I'm coming a little late to the party here.
Did you happen to snap a photo of the mirror holes before you bolted the mirror on? I might have the same issue and I need to fix it before paint.
