Hi All, I rebuilt my 67' Pontiac 400 drivetrain and installed a new oil pan from Butler Performance (RPC Pontiac Zinc Plated Stock Baffled Oil Pan, 6-Quart RPC-S9337-Z), which I believe is a 5 tab design and 6 quart volume.
I discovered that this aftermarket pan, which should be a stock replacement, has too gradual of a slope from the front to the back and as a result the inner right tie rod (with zerk at end) rubs against the front passenger side corner of the pan when I make hard right turns. This rubbing caused a crack in my pan and I lost 2 to 3 quarts of oil within a few minutes!
Can someone recommend a true stock replacement pan that does not have this clearance issue? I have a stock rebuild with mini torque starter on driver side of pan I recall that stock pans were 4-5 quart capacity and the newer pans are now 6 quart? Appreciate any guidance that you can provide. Thanks.
