Well I have a 67 bird, and I installed a new gas tank, no problems there. The sending unit/gas gauge was working fine before the new tank swap.
I transferred the old sending unit to the new tank and now. Voila, the gas gauge needle is pegged way past full at the 3 'o clock position. When there is 5 gallons in the tank and also when the tank is full, the gauge is pegged at the 3 'o clock position.
I have checked the ground, and it is completely clean and on bare metal. I unhooked the sending unit power in the trunk (tan wire) and grounded it unhooked, gauge went to empty, meaning gauge is working fine.
I can't figure it out it was working fine before, could it be that power to the sending unit got crushed when I jacked up the tank to put the straps on??? The last thing I want to do was drop the tank again, getting that filler neck lined up was a pain in the neck.
