Hello everyone,

I have an I have a 67 Firebird 400 convertible. Out of nowhere, the interior lights, including the center console, and two door jam lights won’t turn off. I played around with the headlamp switch and I got it to turn off. However, the next time I drove it, they came back on and wouldn’t turn off. So I replaced the headlight switch today thinking that was all the problem but it didn’t help. Maybe it’s a loose ground? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

The door jamb switches are self adjusting, to adjust to the different gaps between the door and the door jamb on different vehicles. Sometimes this self adjusting feature "slips", and the switch get out of adjustment. If that happens, it often helps to take a pair of pliers and pull the switch out to the fully extended position. then close the door and let the switch readjust.

In the picture below, the tubular part, to the right of the of the hexagon part, is the self adjuster.

Sorry if my wording is a bit strange, it is difficult to find the right words in a foreign language as english.

The other issue is that the lights are always hot and ground through the door jam switches. If the lightbulb holder grounds to the dash the lights go on. Mine would flash when I hit bumps and the light bulb holder hit the dash.

That’s what is happening with me. How did you get it fixed?

I went under there and made sure the bulb holders were mounted properly.
