I heard the other day that the exhaust pipe should exit like the Camaros out the back of the body instead of right behind the rear tire like the 67 and 68 Firebirds do. Can someone help me with the correct location for a 69 Firebird please.

No, my understanding is that the pipes should exit behind the rear tire, like on the 67 and 68 Firebirds. I have no proof for that, though. You sometimes see Firebirds with exhausts that exit out the back, especially here in Sweden where it in the 1970:s and 1980:s was against the law to have an exhaust that didn't exit at the rear, but my thinking is that those cars are not original.
The actual factory location is not really behind the right back wheel, but further back . Just about to the rear corner , pointed in somewhat of a downward position. You can’t really see it walking around the car. I’ve had my 69 for over 54 years and it’s been kept as it came from the factory.
