Well its time to corral the pony for the long cold winter here in Alberta. I will be storing it in an uninsulated garage and plan on placing the car on jack stands. I was just wondering if anyone has any tips for protecting my Cragar ss rims for the winter. They will stay on the car. Just curious. Thanks. Jimbo
This is a case whereby I might consider using wax. Even so, if you clean them well, they should be fine.
The reason for storing in stands is so that you don't get flat spots on the tires. When you put it on stands, you want to keep the springs loaded, meaning placing the stands under the control arms and rear housing.
I leave my car outside under a foot of snow and ice all winter - well, I did last year at least. Maybe this year there will be a car cover between the snow and sheet metal! But I do clear it off every once and a while and drive it when the roads allow.
As for your wheels - I agree that they should probably survive with no issues, but a heavy coat of wax left on should help ensure no problems. Just remember to wipe off the excess before you go drive the car again! Oh, and you might want to disconnect the battery, and possibly keep it on a charger? Or charge it once a month? I dunno - probably need to do something with the battery, and perhaps fluids. Check with the guys here on that stuff. 3 months isn't long, but 5-6 months would require more work I'm thinking.

LOL, I had a '72 Cutlass Supreme with 4 steel studded snow tires that I ran year round. They were great for dirt road traction, but very noisy on the freeway!
