I was just wondering if anyone had any opinions about which is a better way to go, Stock Insulation, or Dynamat? Any personal experiences, good or bad are appreciated.
I just took a look at its website to see what its product was all about. Not trying to be over pickey becuase I have a major spelling deficency, but when a coperation and its technical writers cannot determine the difference between its and it's--or don't worry about such trivial details--I perfer to continue to shop for companies that pay more attention to details.
Anyway, I used the cheapo hot water tank insulation, the plastic stuff with air pockets. Its noise limiting quality isn't the greatest, but it's a good heat barrier.
I used a generic version of Dynamat before I installed new carpet in my convertible. I huge difference (less) in heat coming through the floor boards into the passenger compartment. I recommend it.
I just put dynamat in my car. Total cost was about 200 dollars, and I'm extremely happy with it. It's probably the best money I've ever spent on the car. I wouldn't bother with anything else.

I would say go for it... better engineered than the original stuff... BUT, shop around, compair the different brands and products available...
Some are heat and sound, some are just sound, some are just heat etc...
And then, check out the deals on eBay... you can cut the cost in half over ordering from the manufacture, and in many cases be able to mix and match products (more heat barier for areas, and sound deadening over the whole area etc...)
Lots of products out there on the market, so shop around! Let us know what you find and go with!

I found a company that makes a product called eDead that looks pretty good and you can buy it by the square foot or gallon. Their website is: edesignaudio.com Their main business is making audio systems, but sells accompanying products to soundproof your vehicle.
69 Firebird Convertible, Crystal Turquoise Metallic, Parchment Interior, White Top. Fold-down back seat.
I recently put the eDead material in my '68 Coupe and I'm very happy. I think 80 sq ft came to about $100. More than enough to do the complete interior. I almost have a full roll left over. I need to post some of those pictures on my website.
That reminds me - this is what I coated my floor pans with: VB-1X

I should have took pictures of my dynamat installation. From what I read on the quietride website salmon recommended, I probably got a little carried away and installed too much dynamat. You don't need to cover the whole floor with it...like I did. On the dynamat website, they recommend to cover the whole floor and tape the seams. They probably just want to sell more!
