curious as to what is the best type of gaskets to use on the exhaust/intake manifolds on the 6-cyl.OHC's. can anyone tell me what has worked best for you? and how hard is it to find correct gaskets for this? as i only want to do it once ha!ha!
Flatout's Composite gasket is the best one we've tested so far. We sell that one as part of an upgrade to the gasket sets.
For most stock applications, the FelPro shim-style is "ok" but it does not really match up to the ports very well. That one you can pick up at most stores where the guy behind the counter knows what he's doing. FelPro's part number for it is 90126. It also comes in a set, FelPro MS90126. Go to CarQuest and ask for it by that part number.
Miles - If the "they" you mean is Flatout, then yes, it is the only gasket they make for the OHC. I'd like to get them to make a head gasket, too, but the tooling costs and the relatively low volumes will probably drive the price up out of reach.
Other companies also make that gasket, such as Clifford and Victor. But with Clifford, the wait to get it would be pretty long, and I don't even know if Victor still makes it. (I have an old catalog number from them, but that's about it.)
