I can't seem to find a dual line sending unit (3/8" fuel- 1/4" vent lines) for a '68 Firebird. Can I use one from a '69 Firebird? I see Classic Industries has one for only $50. Part number: 6428322. Will this fit a new '68 Gas tank?
Not sure if it will fit but a supplier here in Canada has the dual line listed to fit 67-69.They seem to be pretty knowledgeable, so it is possible the 69' you are looking at MAY work. http://www.early-birds.com/part_223_230_238-29092.html

Had the same problem before concerning my 68 Firebird coupe, finally bought part# FT-34 from Rick´s First Generation (USD 59.95). It´s a 69 (!) 3/8" tube and 1/4" return line repro fuel tank sending unit and at least it´s an exact match to the old one that was installed in my car before. Unfortunately I don´t know if this one was correct or changed by one of the car´s pre-owners.
I posted some pics of the new and old unit at Yahoo!Photos, so you can take a look:
Thanks Thomas the pictures look identical to the one for sale by CI. So it looks like I will go with the 68 Fuel Tank kit from them with the 69 Sending unit.
Just to let everyone know. The '69 dual line (3/8" main/ 1/4" return) fuel sending unit DOES work in the 67-68 Gas tank. I just finished installing the tank today and driving the Firebird around the block. It's the first time the gas gauge actually registered the fuel level correctly!
just a warning i got the paddock part #6428845r its the only one listed for 1968 firebirds and it is in correct it only has the 3/8" fuel line no return. When I calld back they don't stock the dual line even for a 1969 ?? gonna have to return and repurchase .
