that will fit in a 68 Bird? All I care about is fitting the dash properly and would like a decent AM/FM radio, possibly cassette or CD. Do they exist?!?
You can also have your original radio converted or updated to modern specs.Custom autosound is the only one that offers a drop in replacement for our birds. It's that or hack your dash. (i chose to hack my dash).

Mine has an original radio for looks and a cd that i hung under the dash right above my console. Works pretty good and I didn't have to drill any holes or do any cutting.
You could also try getting an original radio refurbished and then get a fm modulator that will send a signal from a cd player/cassette to the stock stereo. I buy all my stuff from http://www.crutchfield.com/ they should have a "knob" style radio that'll fit.
CustomAutoSound. I am very happy with their product. Bought the tuner from Classic Industries, and the 10CD changer from Ames.(Classic was out of stock on the changer.
The unit looks good in the dash. The walnut burl face plate is quite a bit brighter than stock but, still blends well. A local shop installed it for me and added a booster and subs in the trunk. It sounds almost as good as my engine!

I bought a Kenwood am/fm/cassette from Crutchfield ,think it was $99 or so....4 yrs ago...it should fit a 68 , but it did fit in my 69 where the 69 only size hole had alrready been cut to "std" size...
Aren't the 7's and 8's standard size openings? If so, you have unlimited options for a unit, and unlimted options for making it look as if it's a factory installation.
