I brought this up a while back, but need to revisit since my new windshield is going to be installed on Friday. The old windshield is out as well as all the clips, etc and it's been a year since I did that. Do you have to put the clips in first and then the chrome pillar moldings and top moldings, then lay the windshield in? I'm having the body shop do it, but they were unsure about the order in which to install. Thanks. Oh, and here's a sneak peak at the car back in it's original Windward Blue. http://home.maine.rr.com/lanesrus/MVC-109F.JPG . It's a crappy picture and the lighting doesn't show how it looks in person. It's more of a medium blue that turns a teal color in the sun. I like it. Now I just have to put it all back together
Clips first then windshield. It would be slightly easier if you put the pilar moldings on first. I installed my NOS pilars after the glass was in and it's a little tricky putting in the small screws. Your car looks great! Put some duct tape on the top edge of your fenders so the pilar moldings do not scratch the pretty paint job when you install them.
Not trying to come off nasty or anything, but if the bodyshop doesn't enough about w/s installation, you'd be better off having a glass shop install it. Most bodyshops subcontract glass work out to glass shops.
I'm having a glass shop install the windshield. They do all the glass work for the classic resto shop. The resto shop is going to assist them with trim installation. The last time I had a windshield installed by a different glass shop "pro" on my daily driver. He had to come back several times because the rubber trim he put back on was falling out, warped and looked terrible. I just wanted to make absolutely sure it was done right on my FB. Thanks.
