When I purchased my Bird in Feb 05, the right front wheel brake was draging. Changed front calipers and pads and rear wheel drum cylinders. Front disc and rear drums were in good shape.
Brakes worked good for about 200 miles and and now the right front brake is draaging again.
Other than I am just unlucky and got a bad caliper as a replacement anybody out there have an idea as to what is causing this problem. The master cylinder and associated parts seem to be stock 69 disc/drum.
Double check to make sure you get the correct ones. I ordered new replacements from Classic for my 68 only to discover a month later they were not exactly correct. For the 68 quad piston calipers, the hose ends are 'D' shaped to align with the brackets correctly and they are apx 3/4" longer. Neither Ames or Classic carry the correct ones. I have spoken directly with the manufacturer and they are sending me the correct ones direct. Classic has said they will correct the issue in the next catalog, Ames said they do not anticipate having the correct ones for quite a while.
Interestingly, Classic stated the issue was only discovered about three weeks ago. Apparently their has been a huge increase in orders for first gen firebirds over the last few months. That is a good sign for us I guess.

Thanks guys. Internal hose collapse makes sense. The hoses apperar to have been there for quite a while. I am out to get new hoses and will let you know if this solves the problem
