Anyone ever replace the read deck panel, between the trunk/window, and gutter ??? I'm hoping to do mine in a few weeks and would like any tips or things to watch out for in doing this repair.

Are you talking about the package tray? If so its pretty easy, just take the rear seatback out first.

This is a convert. There is no package tray. This is the metal panel that is between the convert top/window and the trunk lid.

The seams on either side are filled in from the factory and this you'll have to redo... and I think it's spot welded to the additional bracing in the trunk on the sides... otherwise it "should" be pretty straight forward.

But I'll let some one who has actually replaced it tell you more on that...

I recall someone once saying those panel to quarter seams were leaded in. Anyone else know or recall that?

It has spot welds.Also a pain to get at.You have to look very close to make sure you don't miss any.

When I restored my car I put on new quarters. I put lead back in the seams. That is how they come from the factory. There are still a few body shops around who will do that. You will have to melt out the old lead to get to the spot welds. Barry
