At some point my '67 got itself a 4-sp... I think they all were 3-speeds at birth... right?

Anyway, I was wondering if there is a 5 speed (OD) tranny that will bolt up to the 400.

What else would I end up doing to get it to fit?

Your car may have had a 4 speed from the start. They were not all 3 speeds.

Keisler offers complete bolt-in kits which include bellhousing, transmission, shifter, cross member, driveshaft, etc.

Do an Internet search or check out one of the recent copies of HPP or Pontiac Enthusiast.

Tom, does Keisler carry the correct clutch assemblys for their tranny kits?

they even make a 6 speed with 2 overdrive gears if you do alot of highway travel.

As far as I know, the kit includes everything if you are converting from ATM and whatever you want if already a manual. Here is the link to their website.

I friend of mine with a LeMans convertible installed a kit last year and said it was great.

I bought and installed the Keisler TKO600 kit. It uses a standard clutch flywheel and pressure plate. You can also use the stock pedal linkage, but you may need an adjustable clutch fork pivot ball.

Would a 5 speed out of an 80's era camaro or firebird work? Those are a lot cheaper than the new style 5 speeds.

The T5 is not a very strong tranny. The best ones are only capable of around 300 ft/lbs of torque in stock form. Typical Pontiac V8s produce more torque than that!
