Just getting at going after stripping down the steering column and reworking it. I think the lower bearing just needs repacking and the signal cancelling piece needs replacing.
I also want to paint the usual top end items. Do these items come off easily or does it involve removing the "dreaded" circlip from the top? I want to try and stay away from the complete dismantle as I have heard it can be a bear.
Any hints etc, tools to have handy and the like...
If you buy the steering wheel clip tool from the store it is not a big deal to dismantle. It basically bolts to the column and compresses the spring so you can take the clip out without scattering all the parts all over the place. I think I paid about $12 for one about 10 yrs ago. They are probably about $20 now.
I know that washing and waxing my car with the present condtion of my paint is like polishing a turd.....but it's my turd and I want it polished!
