I just found out that I can't buy a water pump for my 67 Sprint anymore. Will the 77-81 231 water pump work or not? Probably not, I believe it's a v-6 not a straight 6. Any info out there?

Have you checked with Primatech? They may have some. If not, Kanter used to sell them as well. Other than that check ebay. It is particular to this engine, and the one for 69 is different as well. Best to find one with a cast impeller, but that won't be easy. Most will be a stamped replacement due to being rebuilt.

I personally would like to go with a NEW water pump when practical, but there are many quality rebuilders of pumps out there that I would trust. Another plus for something like that would be in the realm of casting numbers and the like. If you don't have any results, I can give you a name and address where you may send it for rebuilding.

We sold our last NOS pump recently, but we can get more. Also, there are very good high-quality rebuilders out there, as Greg mentioned.

There is no substitute pump.

I hear ya. I have a couple of spares. The one on the engine now is an NOS GM pump I found on ebay a couple of years ago.

By the way, the bearings went out on it today, so I want to get it rebuilt. I should have known better than to talk about it.
