hey im building my 350 up and a guy at work has a edelbrock 1405 600 cfm carb...you think that will work good or i have my 750 holley...the 600 is use but looks fairly clean. it rubed clean by using my thumb and rubbing on it. he said he would sell it cheap? 50 sound like a good offer?
I run the Edelbrock 1406 on my 350 bird. It works but there is a A/F restrictor plate that is designed for "smooth transition from primary to secondary"and are calibrated for economy, not performance. I don't like the poor acceleration when I punch it. You don't get the power when the 4 barrels kick in. If I was to do it over again I would get the Thunder series AVS 1806 series or stay with a Quadrajet. http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive_new/mc/carbs_acc/pdf/carb_app_chart.pdf
Ruff.-The holley is too big for a 350 and its a square bore carb, I dont think it will fit a stock manifold. The Edelbrock tunes more easily and it wont leak like a old Holly or Q.jet.My two cents is get a proffesionaly set up Q-jet and save your grief for something else!!-MIK
CI = Cubic Inch fo Motor ERPM = Engine Red Line VE = Volumetric Effieciency (approx 85% for stock)
If the number is in between 2 sizes, error on the low side. You may sacrafice a tiny bit in overall horseepower at the high end, but you will gain drivability at all speeds.
I know that washing and waxing my car with the present condtion of my paint is like polishing a turd.....but it's my turd and I want it polished!
