The trans crossmembers on non th400 cars are listed as small block and big block (Camaro listings). The small block crossmember mount is centered and the big block crossmember is offset an inch towards the passengerside. Which one is correct in the Firebird with the Pontiac engine?
I am pretty sure the one I took out, which I had used with an ST300 and a TH350, was pretty well straight. Personally, I would shop around and find one specified for Pontiac...
I also took my ST300/TH350 one out and it was straight. Small blocks would run the TH350 and the big blocks would run the TH400 (I'm sure there were exceptions to this). Currently I'm running the TH400 crossmember.
The boxed centered crossmember should be correct for all firebird except th400 or non OE trans. should be same for camaro, nova, apollo, ventura, omega to 74 th400 crossmember was tubular with an extended pad for the trans mount. I think it was the same crossmember camaro used.
67 firebird used a different crossmember than 68-9, but i think it was just for the different linkage mount and otherwise fit the same.
Camaro BB 4spd had a boxed crossmember, but offset, or at least some did.
I have a th400 crossmember, modified for my 2004-r... /6cy
