Is the wiring harness going from the dash to the center connsole between the seats suppose to be routed under the carpet & then up through the the carpet into the console or above the carpet entirely.

It goes behind the heater and under the carpet.

Thanks Hansi that's what I was going to do but I know when I bought my bird the wiring was on top of the carpet. Just wanted to confirm.

Hansi is on the mark again! Yes, under the carpet from the heater area, up through the shifter hole in the carpet, and then the rear console light just runs above the carpet, but hidden under the console to the rear light below the rear ashtray.

But I'm sure you figured that out by now...

As a matter of fact mine has 4 wiring clips under the screw heads that hold the chrome trim to the main console body (driver side) that the rear light wiring goes to.
