E-bay seller “gothicatrocity” I wasn’t sure if I sure say anything about this but then I thought I should warn everyone.
I tried to buy two cocktail shakers from this guy for my bird. After the auction he sends me an e-mail that says “these are heavy, I’m guessing $200.00 with S&H.” (Auction closed at $127) Then nothing. (He didn’t include any shipping info in his listing.) He won’t send me an e-bay invoice, wouldn’t tell me what the package weighed (which is why I asked here.)
I went to the internet and offered him the info on shipping from DHL, FedEx and UPS. DHL will ship these from his zip to mine for $32 (and some change), Fed Ex $39. He wants me to pay him almost $75.00 to ship these and apparently can’t be bothered to spend 3 minutes to actually go to the internet and find out what it costs.
This guy has repeatedly called me a liar about what it costs to ship anything. Been just plain rude in his e-mails, and told me to “stop bothering him” when I asked for an invoice.
This guy is just trying to pad his auction profits. I’m tired of being ripped off by people like this. OK, I’ll get off my soapbox now.
Just be warned, if you have any dealings with him be sure to get a shipping quote BEFORE you bid on anything he is selling.

Is he in the Los Angeles area? I seem to recall he is. If so, ask him if he's OK with a local pick-up. No additional costs, no packing, no handling, no B.S.
I`ve heard bad stuff about him before....not a friendly guy.... if Q can pick it up for you ,.so much better ... we may even get a 'close up' look at him...lol
Holy crap, I JUST went through the same kind of thing with this guy.
For some really nice hinges.
What a grumpy SOB this guy is. He seems to wear the tin foil hat a bit tight.
Every email from him was some kind of diatribe saying I was out to rip him off. One of the hinges has a cracked bushing and the auction was for "best of the best" hinges. I offered to ship back to him on my dime and he went ballistic (just to exchange the one unit).
I have been holding off on sending him a negative, because I know he would retaliate. I dont' want to ruin my perfect 263 feedback.
Maybe we both should?

I bought a conv. tack strip from him for Knut some years ago. Useless piece, stated very good cond. BS! He came up with a totally FANTASY shipping to Norway. Finally had him ship to FirebirdBill to pack it up with some other parts. This process took so long the feedback limit(3 months?) went out....
i thought the total price was 200.00 including shipping.if it was 127.00 plus 200.00 shipping than that is wrong.i usually state a fixed shipping on my ebay items.that eliminates any confusion.
I also once bought a set of shakers for $96 ! but was charged "normal' s/h....I only charge 'actual' shipping ,no handling if/when I sell anything....it is just 'the right thing to do'....if you feel you need more for an item , start the auction high enough...I think this guy did excactly what the seller of the "bullitt" poster did , thought he get 'some extra'; in s/h ,because the auction did not go as high as he anticipated, ...well, thats too bad, but should be honored as the 'final cost', plus 'real' s/h , not some: "I feel like I should be getting paid $1 /step going to the post office, plus $50 for the old used box I found!"
sometimes shipping on the shakers can get very pricy.it all depends on how you package them.customer friendly,or ups friendly.if you put all 4 in one box they will sock it to you cause of the weight.i usually ship them individually cause it is usually cheaper that way.same thing with wheels.anything over 70 lbs is subject to extreme overweight charges.
I think Lee's issue is the fact that he is being raped on the shipping. I think a few more $ to ship than actual,is acceptable and most can/will swallow that, but on higher cost to ship items, thats tough to swallow when the price is doubled. The issue is not what the going rate is on an item and that at $200 shipped he still got a very good deal. The issue is his getting reamed through no fault of his own, he didn't even see it coming i'm sure.He scored big time at $127 for a pair of them, hands down, no question. Probably was very happy he did and makes the no reserve auction a very pleasureable experience for the buyer. To get reamed through no fault of his own probably left a very bad taste with him.Maybe other buyers have caught on to this and have started to avoid his auctions because they too were reamed, leaving some parts like the cocktail shakers to go for way less $. Who knows.... For whatever reason the seller decided to inflate the shipping cost, he probably just lost plenty of potential customers through Lee's posting of his experience.Lee,if it makes you feel any better, if they are in good shape, $200 shipped is still an awesome deal on them, just would have been nicer to get them for $150-160 shipped.

dave makes a good point.just think of it as you paid 200.00 for the parts and he shipped them free.or you paid 100.00 for them and 100.00 shipping.either way you got a fair price on the product.when i buy large items i just have the seller put it in a box and i have my shipper pick the parts up for me and bill my account.

Lets say you buy a uesd car on EBay....a Caddy that nor, mally sells for $10k, you get it for $5k, now would you get upset if the seller wants $5k to ship it? and you cant pick it up....

This guy is still a pain! I recently won an auction in the last minute and he sent me a note via eBay saying that "no one likes snipers". He had a chance to make some other bids after mine and just didn't bid high enough. The auction was for some 400 grill chrome from Terry (www.69firebirdman.com). Thought about reporting him to eBay but checked out some other negatives and sounds like he has threatened some people per one person's comments. I don't more grief from him.
He's not the only one that does that sort of underhanded &*(t. That's why I don't even bother with e-bay anymore. Personally, my feeling is that either everyone gets into a bidding war and the price gets overinflated or this type of thing happens. I find that plain internet searches(Google etc..) or networking gets me to more reputable places and people...which is how I found this fantastic site!
oh boy i'm in for a roller coaster ride for something i just bought from yesterday for 11.00 great so shipping going to be 20.00 for something that weighs 1/2 pound some rubber seals thanks for the warning GUYS

It must have been left outside for a few years before it was "garaged" for the last 20 judging by the dash and interior condition.
Some people apparently have a different definition of rust-free than others. I think some consider whether it's rusted all the way through (holes). To others it means "I've filled in all the holes with Bondo so you can't see it." Or "I've painted over all the rust, so you can't see it."
When I was in the market I looked at a car a dealer was offering that was "rust free." He sent me detailed pics I asked for, and there was visible extensive surface rust all over the car (no this was not the guy that simply painted over it). Either he fit in category 1, or maybe he meant the rust was no extra charge?
Just saw this thread! I just had a run in and email war last week with the RUDE SOB myself. I won't touch his stuff now. Must be where the "atrocity" part comes in...
Just found that thread. Atrocity is the responses with the bullet indented. I wonder what his "coolest firebird in existance looks like"?
Our little exchange!:
Is the valance straight or are there dents and or bondo?
 DID YOU ACTUALLY READ THE TEXT?
Now I see where the "atrocity" part comes from...Well......EXCUSE me!
 MY RESPONSE WAS NOT MEAN BUT SINCE YOU MENTION IT.IGNORANCE AND STUPIDITY ARE NO EXCUSE!
Certainly came "OFF" mean at this end. Don't you just love how intonations are misread on email...
 AGAIN,I WAS NOT MEAN.YOU WERE,THEN I RESPONDED.LET'S GET OVER THIS AND ON TO BIZ.I KNOW YOUR CAR VERY WELL.I OWN ONE OF THE COOLEST 68 BIRDS IN EXISTANCE. THAT VALANCE IN EXCELLENT!MO RUST OR BONDO BUT IT WAS TOWED ONCE.YOU CAN SEE THE DENT IN PIC.
I apologise if I misunderstood the inflection of your first response, let's move on....I was just busy when I saw the auction. Regards,
Dave, I have a solid valance that I could sell you reasonably. It does have a couple of small dents, but no rust. Has been media blasted and epoxy primed. Their is a 1/2" long tear in the center that would need to be welded as well. Just an offer. Tim.
PS. I repeat, gothicatrocity is an [censored].

Sorry, just must have missed your post Tim. Thanks for the offer but since that time I have done some filler work on mine and I'll see how it works out.
