Hi Folks, Does anyone run a ram air III cam in their 400? The reason I am asking is that I want to check the timing however I'm not sure how much (if any) this has affected the dwell so I'm at a loss as to what it should be. As always thanks for taking the time.....
Specified dwell angle is 28 - 32 degrees for all the first gen Firebird V-8s. Cam selection will not affect the dwell angle, nor does it affect the initial timing recommendation of 9 degrees BTDC, except for the RA IV. What does change is the distributor advance curves, both centrifugal and vacuum advance. You will need to tailor your distributor for your combination.
