I know I'm going to hear don't swap in the Chevy motor, but I plan on keeping the Pontiac motor, but I already have access to a 94-95 LT1 and all the wiring and computer. I want to keep my 4 speed though, is this possible? The LT1 previosly had a auto behind it too, didn't know if one, the computer would allow a 4 speed, or two if my 4 speed would bolt up to the LT1, or three, if there were an adapter? Right now I run a 326 with a 4 speed. Any help is appreciated, I'm thinking of a kind of Lateral G car, but not as extreme as some. Or better yet, what Pontiac Fuel Injection can be used if any on the 326? That is what I'm really after, the 326 is a strong runner, I want injection.
One thing I can clear up for you; All you will need to bolt your 4 speed to the Chevy V-8 is a stock bell housing for any Chevy application 64-72. You can pick one up cheap on eBay.
Had a '93 Z28. The Optispark system has a lot inherent flaws and is expensive to replace. MSD makes a replacement but I'm not sure I'd trust that either. I swore if I ever bought another I'd convert it to a multi-coil system. Of course, I also swore I'd never buy another. At least you won't have as big an issue as I did trying to change plugs and wires.
I think at this point if you want a Pontiac FI, you'll need to use a universal system and have the intake modified and fuel rails made to fit.
thank you all. I will hold off for now, I sure do like that Pontiac motor, we'll see if I really need the FI opr not, if so I might try to go with something on the Pontiac motor.
