At least on Days of Thunder. Car is finally back on the road in it's original color after more than 2 years of work. Problem is the front wheels rub turning to the right really bad. Turning to the left is tolerable. Of course I lowered the front end by cutting a coil off some new springs from ESPO. I love this look though and don't want to raise the front end. Rims are 15x7. Why would it rub turning right as apposed to left though? What tire size would you recommend? Alignment that far out of whack? My car
I watched that movie too. Take the front wheels off. And now you can see where the rubs are. Probaly on the inner fenders. Take a 2 pound hammer and make a little room. Your right rubbins racin. Nice 69
I have a similar problem - just my rubbing is opposite from you. I have Hotchkis front springs and 245/60-15 tires all the way around. I plan to install a narrower 70 series tire with the same diameter on the front to help with the rubbing. I am not too keen on taking a hammer to my car right now.
They mostly rub on one of the fender lip bolts that attach the fender to the inner fender. Simply replacing these with button head bolts solves the problem sometimes.
I would ask the man at Discount Tire. He will have a size tire that will totally solve the problem. Remember, these cars came with 14's. You could also go to a tire store that does alignments and have the alignment checked out at the same time.
Hmmm, I have 245/45/17 front tires on mine and it's lowered 2 inches in the front. With the right back spacing there is absolutley no rubbing except under full lock turning into my driveway.
