There's a snowball's chance that the throttle plate on my original carb is cracked and I may have to go the way of a new carb. Does anyone know what the size of the carb is on a 1967 Sprint? I was thinking it was around a 525 or something in that area. I'm sure the info is somewhere in this site, I'm just to stupid to find it. Thanks.
The carbs are 750 CFM (not that the Sprint needs that much, but being a spread-bore, only what is needed will be provided).
The Q-Jet throttle body is aluminum; as such is could be welded and machined if necessary. Generally easier to acquire a base plate from a junk carburetor of the same number(for instance, one where someone tried to fix a stripped-out fuel inlet with one of the self-tapping fittings, which ruins the casting).
On rarer carburetors, one would repair the existing baseplate.

(A) tap the threads deeper into the body and use a fuel fitting with more threads. (B) there was a company producing a tap with the same pitch but 1/64 inch greater diameter. This tap would tap the original threads oversize, and a fitting with oversize threads was available. Do not know if the tap is still available at this time. (C) the most expensive, but also the most permanent fix - helicoil.
We highly suggest the use of an inline filter BEFORE the fuel pump; and NOT changing the filter in the carburetor.
If the fuel filter MUST be changed, ALWAYS use two wrenches on the filter nut and fuel line.

I had mine helicoiled last year, after using an oversized inlet strainer nut which was prone to leak every once in a while, even though I re-tightened it repeatedly.
